Director of the Department of Finance, Kosice Self-governing Region
Michal Demo is the Director of the Department of Finance at the Košice Self-governing Region. Since 2018, he is responsible for budgetary matters of the second most populated region of Slovakia. He started his professional career as a Financial Controller in the automotive industry. Attracted by the unique opportunity to contribute to the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2016, he joined the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava and focused on the EU budget. Michal Demo pursued Master´s Degrees both in Finance and Economics at the Technical University of Košice and at the University of Cologne. After graduation, he interned at the Federal Government Affairs Office of the United States Steel Corporation in Washington, DC and at the Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission in Brussels. He also attended an academic programme on Government Affairs at the Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Michal Demo is an alumnus of the Antall József Summer School in Budapest.
